Veal, pork, chicken or vegan

Under the Austrian Food Code (Österreichisches Lebensmittelbuch), a Wiener Schnitzel is a breaded veal escalope. If it is made with pork, the menu has to say so. Ours is called Schweins-Wiener-Schnitzel (pork Wiener schnitzel). Our menu offers:

  • Original Wiener Schnitzel, the 180 g veal schnitzel, with lingonberries
  • Schweins-Wiener-Schnitzel (pork Wiener schnitzel)
  • Surschnitzel (cured pork schnitzel)
  • Hühnerschnitzel (chicken schnitzel), with a cornflake coating on request
  • Cordon Bleu made with pork, with ham and cheese
  • Vegan schnitzel, more at vegan & vegetarian food in Vienna

The side and the beer to go with it

With your schnitzel you choose a side: homemade potato salad, potato and mayonnaise salad, parsley potatoes, organic roast potatoes from the Bio-Hof Niedermayer in Lower Austria, chips, vegan sweet potato fries, rice or mixed salad.

We have nine beers on draught, from Ottakringer Rotes Zwickl to Stiegl-Goldbräu. If you cannot decide, order the Bier-Sinfonie (beer symphony): five beers of 0.3 l each.

What guests say

“This place is known for the original veal Wiener schnitzel. I’ve been having schnitzels throughout this trip and this was my favorite out of all, especially when they offer rice.”

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Wiener Schnitzel and Schnitzel Wiener Art?

A Wiener Schnitzel is made with veal. A breaded pork schnitzel has to be labelled as such: in Austria usually “Wiener Schnitzel vom Schwein” (Wiener schnitzel made with pork), in Germany “Schnitzel Wiener Art” (Wiener-style schnitzel). We serve both, plus chicken and vegan.

Do you have Cordon Bleu?

Yes, a pork Cordon Bleu filled with ham and cheese. It is served without a side, so you choose one to go with it.

How big is the Wiener Schnitzel?

The original Wiener Schnitzel is 180 g of veal. You order the side separately; the full choice is on the menu.
